Broadstone Sustainability Consulting (“Broadstone” or “the Organization”) affirms its steadfast commitment to integrating sustainability across all facets of its operations and client engagements. In alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Procurement Framework, Broadstone’s approach addresses Environmental, Social, and Economic dimensions of sustainability. Where possible, this statement provides evidence of tangible progress demonstrating our ongoing dedication to responsible and sustainable practices.
Environmental Commitment
1. Prevention of Pollution & Sustainable Resources o Broadstone ensures that all internal operations, from office resource use to client-facing environmental assessments, prioritize pollution prevention, waste minimization, and efficient resource utilization.
o Evidence of Progress: Since inception in late 2024, Broadstone has completed two major client engagements focused on environmental licensing and social impact assessments. Through these projects, we guided clients to:
Implement waste segregation protocols that have yielded measurable reductions in hazardous waste generation (e.g., reducing onsite waste disposal volumes by instructing clients on best practices for material reuse and supplier take-back programs).
Source at least 20% of office supplies and field equipment from certified eco friendly vendors, thereby promoting sustainable procurement within our own operations.
2. Climate Change Mitigation & Protection of Biodiversity
o Broadstone leverages its expertise in IFC Sustainability Performance Standards to counsel clients on greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory development, emission-reduction strategies, and biodiversity protection measures.
Social Commitment
1. Human Rights & Labour Issues o Broadstone’s consulting methodology integrates Human Rights Due Diligence in accordance with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. We assist clients in mapping their labor-related risks, developing grievance mechanisms, and establishing training programs on workers’ rights and safe working conditions.
2. Gender Equality o We champion gender equality by advising clients to conduct gender balance assessments, set targets for women’s representation in leadership positions, and design workplace policies that support parental leave and equal pay.
o Evidence of Progress:
Broadstone supported the development of a Gender Action Plan for a major infrastructure client.
Broadstone's consultant pool now has almost 60% female professionals.
3. Sustainable Consumption & Social Health and Well-Being o Broadstone encourages clients to adopt sustainable consumption practices, such as life cycle product assessments and community awareness campaigns, and to invest in local health and well-being initiatives. Economic Commitment
1. Whole Life Cycle Costing o We advise clients to incorporate whole life cycle costing (LCC) in procurement decisions, ensuring that long-term environmental and social costs are factored into financial analyses.
2. Support for Local Communities & SMEs o Broadstone places emphasis on strengthening local economies by integrating small and medium enterprises (SMEs) into supply chains. In every project, we encourage clients to define minimum thresholds for local content and to develop capacity-building programs for local suppliers.
3. Supply Chain Sustainability o We help clients establish Supplier Codes of Conduct that reflect environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria.
Conclusion
Broadstone Sustainability Consulting is deeply committed to advancing sustainability across its own operations and through the services we provide to clients. As we grow, we will continue to refine our methodologies and publish annual impact reports detailing our progress, lessons learned, and future targets.
This statement has been approved by the Senior Management Team of Broadstone Sustainability Consulting and reflects our ongoing pledge to foster a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable future.
